Hyrapthora is the name of the continent Hyrapthora. There is no knowledge of beyond the sea. It has many regions (to be seen in the map).
The history of Hyrapthora so far is that around 100 years ago there were two large Nations. One called Hyrap and the other Thora. Tension between the two nations was always high, but accumulated in the point known as the Great War. This ended 50 years ago, mind you. The Great War desolated the Capital Cities of Hyrap and Thora, the leaders both killed and evil magics released upon the land. It was believed that the King of Hyrap and the King of Thora were brothers that never did get along. All of the Cities of Hyrapthora sent their respective leaders to a summit after news had gone around that the War had ended in mutual destruction to a City (placemarker) and decided to divide the Continent into a series of large city states thus making up the Continent of Hyrapthora. Race is not a known concept to the people, so elves, dwarves, orcs, dragonkin, halflings, and all other humanoids are considered Hyrapthorian and have co-mingled with exceptions of a few sects such as the Drow and others.
You will be starting out in the City State of Brale.
Currently the world is quite established with itself. There have been few breakthroughs in steam technology, and so travel is primitive; meaning horses and large flightless birds. Weaponry is still rather archaic, although on the Thorian coast (Eastern Coast) there is a breakthrough in gunpowder and explosives. This means there are primitive firearms; nothing larger than a pistol however. These weapons are highly inaccurate and only the best marksmen can use them effectively.
At this point in time, Religion is not a major part of Hyrapthora. You will find that in some city states it is more prominent than in others.
No current kingdoms exist, just city states. The ruins of the Capital Cities can still be found, but the magics that destroyed them causes these artifacts of powerful magic and vast and advanced technology to be a deathtrap to all but the most courageous. The Capitals had all of the most advanced technology that would still surpass Hyrapthora 50 years after destruction,
